When an assignment’s submissions are assigned to the graders, and one submission gets a deadline extension, then that submission must not appear in the grader’s Grading Todo list.

Currently they do appear there between all the submissions that I do have to grade, and I can’t see the difference. I believe I’ve already once erroneously graded a submission before its extended deadline. My feedback and the checklist gives the student an unfair advantage over other students.

And now I see another submission with a future extended deadline that I should not yet grade appear in my Grading Todo list.

The problem is not so much the fact that you grade it (although that is a wasted effort), but that the grade is published, i.e. shown to the student. So:

  • submissions for which the deadline (extension) has not passed should not show up in grading assignment so that they are not graded prematurely
  • grade should not be published (shown to student) if (1) (personal) deadline has not passed, and (2) the assignment has not been graded yet
