ask for permission for analytics
According to the law, no analytics may be done on data that can (in)directly be related to individuals (wet bescherming persoonsgegevens, http://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0011468/ ).
- instructions by SURF: https://www.surf.nl/kennis-en-innovatie/kennisbank/2015/learning-analytics-onder-de-wet-bescherming-persoonsgegevens.html
- the case of “Snappet”, a learning analytics tool for primary/secondary education: https://cbpweb.nl/sites/default/files/downloads/mijn_privacy/rap_2013_snappet.pdf
A relatively easy way out would be to ask every student explicitly for permission, explaining what concrete analysis is done, and exclude students from the analysis that refuse or withdraw their permission. This should be editable at their profile page.Submitted by Mathijs de Weerdt on 23 November 2015 at 10:58
On enrollment, ask for permission to use grades for statistics. If someone does not agree, he cannot do the course in weblab.
