Another thing. This pop-up stays up for too long. As the number of
papers I (tentatively) assign to a slot grows longer it’s actually
covering up my screen, so I want to get rid of it. But I can’t just
hit Esc for it to go away. I have to either wait a minute (!), or I
have to move my cursor somewhere else on screen (in some cases
scrolling up my screen) to find a little x to close it. This really
hurts flow.

It’d be ideal if I could just Esc it away, because most of the
information it’s giving me is just irrelevant to me right now.

Actually, I see that the duration it stays up is calculated based on #
of entries. That’s smart, but it means the more I put in a slot the
longer it stays up – now it’s up to 74 seconds! But this is a sort of
“false cleverness”, because nobody can really concentrate on data like
that for 74 whole seconds.

Yeah I agree this is somewhat annoying. While the information is useful. I believe it detracts somewhat from the usability.

Nonetheless it is an improvement. I don’t have any good ideas right at the moment in order to fix it.

Thanks,
Craig

Actually, I don’t think the pop-up is necessary. A non-pop-up notification of the save would be sufficient. (I think that all these pop-ups should be removed.)
