Something I believe is almost a must-have feature–especially for workshops that have informal publications–is direct links from the program web page to PDFs of papers. The existing workshop web pages on the CMS, e.g.:

http://2015.ecoop.org/track/MASPEGHI-2015-papers#event-overview

require 2 clicks to get to any PDF.

Why do I say it’s must-have? Well, if you look at non-CMS hosted workshop web pages, they all have direct links. Some examples:

http://fool2013.cs.brown.edu/
http://gemoc.org/globaldsl13/

Furthermore, some SPLASH workshops are creating their own web pages rather than using the CMS and I think this is part of the reason.

I know there’s always more to do than time to do it, but when you get a chance, this would be a big usability enhancement!

Thanks,

Jonathan

Clarification: one-click is the important issue here, in my view.

What I would ideally like to see is that: when there is PDF for a paper, then whenever that paper appears (e.g. in the Program page, or in the Accepted Papers page), then there is a one-click link right there to the PDF. I would be quite happy if the name of the paper linked directly to the PDF, and there were a separate link for abstract and other details (e.g. in the pop-over modal). But an alternative solution that works with the current design would be to have a separate link, labeled “(PDF)” that goes directly to the paper. The point is, you shouldn’t have to first click to bring up the modal, then click again to get the paper.

Added link (label-style) for one-click navigation to the publication when available.
