Many services allow you to map a cname to a given site. For example:

In such a system, the url: http://conf.researchr.org/home/my-site could also answer to a DNS name like:

my-site.conf.researchr.org

Then, to point a friendly URL at that site one would create a CNAME record:

myfriendlyname.com CNAME my-site.conf.researchr.org.

Is something like this possible in the current system?

Best,
JLS

Hi JLS,

This is exactly how we support custom domain in our system, by adding a CNAME to conf.researchr.org

Ok, so if I go to my-site.conf.researchr.org (for my real site) it doesn’t resolve. Do I have to do anything to enable this feature? Does it have to come from a CNAME redirect?

Hi John, we don’t provide conf.researchr.org sub-subdomains (yet), but we can set up routing for a domain name owned by you(r organisation). See email.
