On the PLDI front page, we have a non-rotating event carousel for the Distinguished Papers and a rotating carousel for all the papers. The author pictures in the rotating carousel are being vertically stretched while the ones in the non-rotating carousel are not. The aspect ratio of the pictures should be maintained in all views to avoid the pictures looking odd.

I have a screen shot showing the same picture in both rolls; you can see that the bottom one is vertically stretched while the top one is not. I’m going to email the screenshot separately since I can’t figure out how to attach it here.

Thank you for reporting. I just looked at it and it turns out that the avatar images of some profiles are not cropped correctly, exceeding the default height of 200px. The carousel is set to max height, and therefore stretches the other profile images in case the collection contains a faulty one. I will fix the image cropping and set the max height to 200 instead of calculating it dynamically.
