As suggested in Spoofax/135, maybe StrategoObserver’s runtime field should be a soft reference. I made a sketch implementation but felt it was a bit risky because it might mean that observers are collected too early. Maybe visible editors should use hard references or something … or maybe that’s just overengineering.
