S.H. on MM

For formative assignments I now publish a checklist for grading and I make answers available and tell students to “check their answer against the model answer and rubric”. This sort of works, but of course requires students to click the “yes I’m sure I want to see the answers”-button. But I think it could be nice if WL actually has students grade their own work using the grading functionality already present.

I imagine a workflow where staff can configure an assignment as being self-graded and then when a student marks their work as complete, WL prompts them to grade their own work using the rubric and answer model provided by staff.

I can see myself using this as well. However I would not want this as something that happens immediately. For example I would likely enable this for practice exams, so students can try grading themselves to get a rough idea of what grade they would get using the checklist. But they should only this once they are done with the entire exam. So it should then be a separate button/view that can only be used after they saved their work?

SH:

Sure, I was thinking of combining it with the “Quiz” feature on a directory

So sorry indeed you set it as being “self-graded” on a directory level, rather than an assignment level (though of course I can also see scenarios where you might want it on an assignment level :upside_down_face: )

IdB:

That is indeed better at directory level, but still students might want to review their answers first in a practice exam setting even after finishing all assignments.

While in a quiz setting they are unlikely to review stuff before checking the answer
