#1572 NPE in `deadlineInternal` when submission.parent is null (project WebLab on YellowGrass.org)

Only seems to happen when deadlineInternal() is invoked for a model answer. This should not occur, but it did as result of another regression (https://yellowgrass.org/issue/WebLab/1571).
