It would motivate (some) students if they had a nice visualisation of their progress in the course:

• percentage of assignments submitted
• average grade

and then both related to the bottom, average, and top students.

Furthermore, an indication for each of the main/top level question groups whether the student is:

• very much / a bit behind
• on track
• doing great

One of the assistants made a sketch, which we can use for inspiration (attached).
