Instead of having a single Student Mode (“Strict Student Mode” from now on) for viewing course content as student, have another “Hybrid Student Mode” that is the same as the strict student mode, but with access to content not published yet.
This enables course staff to test an exam as student, without the need to copy/publish it first.
