In some exams, the grading setup for MCQs is like this:

Multiple choice questions have one correct answer per questions. 1 point will be added if correct and 0.5 points are subtracted for incorrect answers. No points are added or subtracted for no answer (i.e. guessing can have negative impact!)

There’s an issue here when students are asked to submit one (or more) alternatives.

They can skip the question first, but once they’ve entered an answer, they cannot change it to “no answer” as the system will report an error that they should select 1 option
