I quite often edit text using the well-known ctrl+arrow key selection to select words I want to replace. Doing so in the title for a new issue makes the edit box go weird: caret falls away and the selection is cleared again.

I think this is due to the searching feature, which presumably triggers on key-press. If that is correct, please check whether the text actually changed before firing a new search to prevent this from happening.

I just found that editing a title that is longer than the input box is even more horrendous: the edit box resets to the beginning of the text with every key press (including END when trying to get to the end). Not resetting the edit box at all when pulling in updates on the search would be nice.

Also, I should probably add, I use Firefox 3.0.18 under Kubuntu Jaunty.

I have the same issue. It is indeed annoying. I am looking into this.
