Inside an event there is “Media Attachments” it would be great if you could also provide say just a “General Link” which could then have a label and a URL to somewhere rather than just embedding code for the other options.

For example InfoQ video recorded a number of presentations at SPLASH and created videos that are synced with their slides. So rather than having a media attachment and uploading the presentations I am just creating links to the videos on the site. I have done about 6 so far and just included text labelled as Video with the URL link. Here is a recent example of the keynote of Peter Norvig:
