HTTrack, the software used for creating static backups, has an issue with large URLs. Large URLs result in large paths for files it saves (i.e. the HTML and other resource files). When these paths exceed the 237 character limit, the file names are just cut off, including their extensions. This breaks the serving of a static copy for pages with lengthy URLs.
Fixes:

  • make backup path configurable and minimize the store path for backups, e.g. use a short symbolic link.
  • limit the decorative page argument used as last past of event URLs (to 85 chars)
