This might be a little bit of a cosmetic problem, but many of the abbreviations of conferences are all lowercase, e.g., “atc 2009” for the 6th International Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing. Apart from the visual appearance, this also conflicts with the official abbreviations which are usually all uppercase or have a mixed spelling.

It should be possible to change these shorthands. While it is for journals, there doesn’t seem to be a similar functionality for conferences. Although it is possible to edit the conference, the acronym is not an available field.

just after submitting bug #229, I realized that I didn’t formulate the bug report correctly. While it is possible to give the acronym, the desired effect doesn’t occur. I figured out that this is due to the fact that the conference is part of a series. The acronym of the series has to be changed in order to get the acronym right. If however, I changed the acronym for the conference the conference series site showed it as “ATC 2009 2009”. I am not sure if that is the desired behaviour. Probably though, you can just close #229.

Indeed, the acronym for a conference series can be changed in the conference series page, where one can also set the full name of the conference so that it appears on the pages for all conferences in the series. However, this seems to be confusing, so I’ll keep the issue open to remind me to do something about it.
