So far I’ve been using a shell script to download the bib files from researchr, with a sed filter that strips the note field and sometimes other fields. Notes fields tend to say things like “best paper award” or “extended version of journal article” or “in press” and in most papers they are undesirable. For some cases, they can be useful, e.g. to note awards in a proposal or on your CV, which makes this a non-trivial problem :/
